Update on the case of jailed teacher Farzad Kamangar

Thanks to their support and the courage of his attorney, Kamangar is alive but still living under the shadow of the death penalty. According to the latest information received from Iran, Kamangar's case was being sidelined by its previous prosecutor. For a detailed summary of the case of Farzad Kamangar, please refer to our article linked below. EI continues to call on the government of Iran to commute the death sentence against Farzad Kamangar, and has made representations to the United Nations Human Rights Council under the Universal Periodic Review procedure which took place recently on 15 Feb in Geneva. In addition, affiliates in the UK and the USA have written to their respective Secretaries of State, David Miliband and Hillary Clinton, urging them to take up Kamangar’s case with the Iranian authorities.
