Education unions in South Africa team up with Government to campaign for vaccination

EI affiliates in South Africa, NAPTOSA, NATU, PEU, SATU, and SAOU, in conjunction with the Department of Education have embarked on an active awareness raising and Covid-19 vaccination programme for teachers and education support personnel.

The campaign is running through a series of videos and fliers targeting teachers and education workers to get vaccinated. The Minister of Education of South Africa, while launching the campaign, announced that 300,000 doses were available for all the educators and support personnel and the roll out will be done with their unions.
Dr Dennis Sinyolo, the Regional Director Education International Africa said it was great that EI affiliates, jointly with the Department of Education, campaigned to get South African teachers vaccinated. “This will help dispel the myths and misinformation around vaccines and COVID-19 and encourage more educators to take the jab”, he observed.
